New Zealand 1 - Airport and Christchurch

Well Easter Break (Spring Break) is finally here and I have 2 full weeks off of school! Katie Rehfuss, my friend from PC, is studying at a different University in Australia, so I met up with her and 4 of her friends in New Zealand. New Zealand is divided up into 2 islands, the North and the South. We met in Auckland, in the North Island, and stayed in the airport over night to catch another early flight down to the South Island. This is us in the airport.

From Left to Right: Courtney (Missouri), Katie (my friend from PC - she's from Atlanta), Ashley (Katie's friend from Atlanta, they came to Australia together), Marie (French-Canadian.. french accent =), Kelsey (Rhode Island), and me!

So we finally got to Christchurch in the South Island and were tired from the long night in the airport. This is Christchurch, we went to an Easter service here, and a massive chess board. Marie was on her phone and Ashley is just trying to fit into the picture I guess =)

That same day we took the Gondala up to a lookout point in Christchurch. This is Kaite and Valerie, a girl from Switzerland that we met. The wind was shaking the Cable Cars, but the ride was very nice. Here we saw our first of many sheep in New Zealand; they just roam free on the hills.

View from lookout point. It was so beautiful it almost looked fake!

It was Extremely cold and windy up there though because we were on the top of a mountain, so we had to run out on the balcony, snap a quick picture, and run back inside to warm up.

Valerie and I split a muffin.

Finally we got back to Christchurch and, since we were going to be staying there for a few days, went to the grocery store and bought some food (and a lot of peanut butter and jelly for sandwhiches on our day trips). We had vegetables and chicken this first night in our hostel. We look like a little family! Also that night, after dinner, some of us went to that church service which was very nice.
